Busting up a bar and crossing Prodigo, the lord of Bunker-88.
Abortio died today. In his own bar. The Drink or Die. Used to be a nice place.
Wasn't really anybody's fault. Caught a stray. This sort of thing happens all the time. I liked him, though.
I'm not really sure why those men wanted to fight us. Molars was just trying to talk to the lady. We were all curious - he was just saying what we were thinking. Her face was all shiny, Jewel's. Everyone wanted to know.
Molars is curious. He's trying to better himself. People should be allowed to do that. It's hard to be a printed man. They don't have schools for them, like that Leaper went to off in Bunker-88. He just wanted to know.
Didn't have to shoot up Abortio's bar. Kill a man who didn't do nothin'.
Dingo got the lady out of there right quick once the awful fighting started. Good. Wouldn't do any good for her face to get shot up, too - not when it's so new and shiny.
But things were bad and guns were firing and everyone was screaming and running and so I grabbed the man and pinned him down. He had those mechanical arms, though, and they kept shooting no matter what I did. Shot his own friend up. And then his other friend tried to stab me, so I had to put him in the way of it. And when he wriggled out all bloody, Molars got him pinned back down with the table, but he kept on going - shot his other friend, too. And poor Abortio.
Of course, Abortio was holding Leaper's molotov by that point (since Leaper needed a moment to decompile her demon). And when he got shot, well he dropped it. It's hard to hold stuff while you're shot - I know. So he went up.
Got my temper rising a bit. Started hearing her again. Seeing them, these awful men, all spread around and opened up. Not good. And there was no one else there no more. They had all run out the doors already.
So I maybe snapped at him a little. Shouldn't have done that. Might have let him see a little something. And that's no good, because when they see something, then they know something, and people knowing something is a big problem. Because then it's hard to find work, and because then you get into even more fights. And when you get into fights, then even more people see things. And then you gotta skip town again.
Besides, he told Leaper they were gonna take the lady to the boss, Prodigo, the man in Bunker-88. Leaper says that that man owns people. Keeps eight ladies around him, tosses them out when he's done. Leaper's seen it. And that's not right. You can't just take somebody because you want em.
Anyway, they're dead now, laying next to poor dead Abortio, last I saw. And now no one is taking nobody noplace. Molars reached into the man and pulled out that he's maybe one of Prodigo's top guys, so I suppose it's all for the better. One less.
Had to get out of there, though, before the cops rounded us up. Because that would mean questions, and questioning is another way of knowing.
But Jewel had a last word for us:
You had no right. The weak have to survive, too, you know. You had no right.
And she's right. They do.
The take:
- 2 pistols
- 2 SMGs
- 2 cyberarms
